PhD title: Climate driven oxygen stress in pelagic fishes along a rapidly warming coast

I studied in the United Kingdom and graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University with a Bachelor of Science (Hons) Degree in Environmental Science in 2015. I then went on to Graduate from University of Liverpool with a Master of Science in Advanced Biological Sciences with Distinction in 2017. I then returned to Australia and started my PhD in August 2018 at UWA, analysing physiological indicators of oxygen stress such as blood pH, bicarbonate, lactate, and partial pressures of O2 and CO2 in high basal metabolic rate sharks, billfishes and tunas. These pelagic animals play important trophic roles, underpin high value fisheries, and are over-exploited. Understanding the multiple jeopardies faced by pelagics assists their conservation.
