After completing his BSc, Matt has helped with morphological identification of seabed samples as a research assistant at UWA and volunteered on several research projects on Rottnest Island. In 2019, Matt began conducting research on behalf of the Sea Around Us, in an attempt to reconstruct fishery catches for the Mainland EEZ of India to better understand these fisheries.
